Canada Likely To Resume Direct Flights From India Starting Sep 27: Check Schedule, Travel Advisory

Direct flight operation between India and Canada may resume from 27th September on the basis of the results of COVID-19 tests that will be conducted on arrival in Canada.

Referring to this, the Canada Government issued a statement and said;

“As a first step, on Wednesday (Sept 22), three direct flights from India will arrive in Canada and all passengers on these flights will be tested for COVID-19 upon arrival to ensure that the new measures are working.”

Now unless the on-arrival tests of people flying in from India to Canada on Wednesday throw up different results from the one at Delhi Airport on departure, it is likely that direct flights will resume from Sunday.

Canada Extends Ban On Direct Flights From India

The India-Canada direct flight ban expired on September 21, which has been further extended by Transport Canada.

As Canada prepares for the return of direct flights from India to Canada, Transport Canada is announcing an extension of the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) that restricts all direct commercial and private passenger flights to Canada from India until September 26, 2021, at 23:59 EDT.

India-Canada Flight Schedule

Air Canada will operate AC42 and AC43 on the Toronto-Delhi route which is scheduled to be operated all 7 days of the week with a Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

Moreover, the airline will also resume flights between Vancouver and Delhi starting from 27th Sep 2021, Air Canada will be AC44 and AC45 all seven days of the week. Below is the detailed flight schedule of the same

Travel Advisory For Indians

After the restriction on direct flights expires, fully vaccinated passengers, and exceptionally unvaccinated passengers eligible to enter Canada, traveling on those flights will need to:

  • Obtain a pre-departure negative COVID-19 molecular test result from the Genestrings Laboratory, located above the metro station in the Airport Connect Building (ACB) at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
  • Perform this test within 18 hours before their scheduled departure.
  • Present the test report with a QR code issued by this laboratory to the air operator before boarding.

Alternatively, travelers who have previously tested positive for COVID-19 can present a positive molecular test issued by a certified laboratory in India. The date of the collection must have been between 14 and 180 days before their scheduled departure to Canada.
