Canada Likely to Change Express Entry Rules From 2023

In order to address the country’s problems with the labour shortage, Express Entry in Canada is reportedly going to undergo some significant changes. According to reports, authorities will now grant ITAs to applicants who have a specific combination of education, work experience, language skills, etc.

A report by CIC suggested that job vacancies in Canada are at a record high currently, “Canada’s high immigration targets, including those through Express Entry programs, stem from several factors including a job vacancy rate that currently stands at 5.7%.”

Changes In Express Entry Rules

Express Entry rules will change in 2023 to address the aforementioned issues.

IRCC will soon be able to issue ITAs to candidates who have specific work experience, education, or language skills and are well-positioned to support Canada’s economy and labour force.

This change will have an impact on the importance of a high CRS for candidates because targeted draws may weigh other factors more heavily.

Canada witnessed a sharp increase in PR invites

The IRCC of Canada issued permanent residency invitations to 3,750 candidates in its most recent Express Entry draw, an increase of 500 invitations from the previous draw.

This was the seventh all-program draw since they began again on July 6.

For IRCC, this was an all-program draw, so invitations were issued to eligible candidates from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), all of which are Express Entry programmes. 504 was the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

Here’s everything you need to know about the most recent Express Entry draws:

1. The IRCC issued 500 more invitations compared to the previous draw for the third time in a row. On September 14, 3,250 candidates were invited, and the August 31 draw saw 2,750 people invited.

2. Following the resumption of Express Entry, this was also the lowest minimum CRS since all-program draws resumed. Starting July 6, CRS scores have decreased in increments.

3. During the first five draws, scores fell by eight or nine points for each draw. On September 14, the draw saw a decrease of six points while this week’s draw was the same.

4. During the pandemic only candidates from the CEC or Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) were issued invitations to apply.

5. Since September 2021, the IRCC paused draws for the CEC.

Express Entry all-program draws have been paused for over 18 months, beginning in December 2020, due to an application backlog caused by COVID-19-related travel restrictions.

Only candidates from the CEC or the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) were invited to apply during the pause. IRCC also paused CEC draws in September 2021.
