Bookings Start for Vande Bharat Express, Delhi-Katra Route

Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday Flags Off the new Vande Bharat Express between New Delhi and Katra as a “Navratri gift” for J&K, saying the service was an attempt by the railways to carry forward PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

This high-speed train will be bridging the gap between Delhi and Katra. Katra is famous for the Vaishno Devi shrine and is a thriving hub of tourists all through the year.

Bookings for the Delhi-Katra route on Vande Bharat Express can now be done on the IRCTC official website and Mobile app. The train will make its first commercial run on the Delhi-Katra route on October 5. The journey is expected to easiest between Delhi and Katra.

Know All About Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Train:

  • The semi-high speed Train 18, which was rechristened as Vande Bharat Express, is the country’s second such train. The first Vande Bharat Express on Delhi- Varanasi route began operations in February this year.
  • The indigenously developed train Vande Bharat train can run up to a maximum speed of 160 KMPH, making it India’s fastest train.
  • Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express offers plush interiors and is equipped with wi-fi, bio vacuum toilets, GPS-based infotainment system, CCTV surveillance, among other features.
  • Vande Bharat train 22439 will begin operations from Delhi at 6 am and reach Katra in 8 hours at 2 pm. From Katra, the train will start its journey at 3 pm and reach Delhi at 11 pm.
  • The Vande Bharat train will stop at Ambala Cantonment, Ludhiana and Jammu Tawi for two minutes each.
  • The high-speed Vande Bharat train will bring down the travel time between Delhi and Katra to eight hours from the current 12 hours.
  • The minimum fare of Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express is Rs. 1,630 and the maximum fare is Rs. 3,014.
