Indian flag-carrier Air India on Tuesday denied the media reports stating that the airline is retiring the Boeing 747s and the jumbo jets in March 2021.

“It has been reported in a section of media that Air India is set to retire its Boeing 747 aircraft from its fleet & will be operating its last flight tomorrow. The news is false and B747 will continue to remain an integral part of our fleet.” Air India said in a tweet.

It must be noted here that some media portals on Monday published articles that stated that Air India is considering/planning to phase out the jumbo jets and did not talk about any date for the last flight by this aircraft.

It had quoted a senior official as saying, “We are planning to phase out the jumbo jets. The final decision will be taken by the Air India board, possibly in its next meeting.”
