The Ho Chi Minh route will operate on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The Hanoi flights will be on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

As per a report by the industry consultancy Capa, Hanoi-Delhi was the third largest Vietnam-India city pair, accounting for 12 percent of Vietnam-India bookings in 2018.

Significantly, Indigo has already announced flights to Ho Chi Minh City from Kolkata from October 3.

Currently, Vietjet operates around 400 flights daily, carrying more than 80 million passengers to date, with 129 routes covering destinations across Vietnam and international destinations.

Vietjet has earned its controversial image after several scandalous incidents in the past. It was subjected to a lot of criticism for their onboard fashion shows in which models in swimsuits walked down the aisle. It was fined ₹55,000 for compromising on air safety after contestants from a beauty pageant danced around in the plane in 2002.

Vietjet was thrown in the limelight again in January 2018 when lingerie models paraded down the aircraft which was carrying Vietnam’s under-23 men’s soccer team. The furor that followed had the CEO issuing a public apology.
