Akasa Air Announces New Route, Adds Flight Between Chennai And Mumbai From September 15

Akasa Air, India’s newest airline on Tuesday adds Chennai as its fifth domestic destination and announced daily direct flights between Chennai and Mumbai starting from September 15, 2022.

In addition to expanding its pan-India network connectivity, the airline has added a new route between Ahmedabad and Bengaluru, which will begin on August 23, 2022.

It is worth noting that the airline has already announced flights to/from four Indian cities including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, and Mumbai.

Akasa Air opened ticket sales for its first commercial flight on July 22, 2022, and unveiled its customer experience strategy, which includes several category-first services and product options for a happy travel experience that is tech-forward, inclusive, and environmentally progressive’s airline will launch its operations by offering 28 weekly flights between Mumbai and Ahmedabad starting August 7, 2022.

Furthermore, Akasa Air announced that it will begin daily direct flights between Bengaluru and Mumbai on August 19, 2022. It is now prepared to increase capacity on this route with additional daily flights beginning on August 30 and September 19, respectively.

Commenting on Akasa Air’s network expansion plans and increase in flight frequencies, Praveen Iyer, Co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Akasa Air, said;

“With the first flight scheduled to take off on August 7, we have seen tremendous response for booking from travellers and our first flight got sold out within a day of going live. With an aircraft arriving every fortnight, we are delighted to augment our network to meet our commitment of progressively adding more cities along new sectors to establish a strong pan-India presence, with a focus on the metro to tier 2 & 3 route connectivity.”

Akasa Air Full Flight Schedule

Akasa Air will begin commercial operations with two aircraft on August 7, 2022, and will add two aircraft each month until it has inducted 18 aircraft by the end of 2023.

It intends to add 12 to 14 planes every 12 months to complete its order of 72 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft delivered over five years.
