AirAsia India Launches Daily Flights Connecting Surat to Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata

The new routes were inaugurated by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who also highlighted the government's investment of Rs 350 crores for the redevelopment of Surat airport, which includes the construction of a new terminal building and aprons.

AirAsia India, an Indian low-cost airline also known as AIX connect starts its daily flight service from Surat, Gujrat connecting major Indian cities including Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata starting from Friday, March 03, 2023.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia flagged off direct multiple flights connecting Surat to three major cities. This move is expected to boost Surat’s connectivity and further enhance its position as a hub for commerce and entrepreneurship.

“Surat, we have landed in your city! Now fly daily direct to Bengaluru, Delhi and Kolkata from the City of Diamonds,” said AirAsia India in a Tweet.

Surat to be Connected to 10 Cities Including an International Metropolis

Scindia stated in his inauguration speech that the new routes will connect Surat to a total of ten cities, including one international metropolis. He also emphasised the significant increase in air connectivity in Surat and Gujarat, stating that the city was only connected to two cities until 2014.

AirAsia India Surat Flights Schedule

The flight schedule shows the departure and arrival timings for six different flights operating to and from Surat, a city in India. The flights connect Surat with cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, and others. The schedule includes flight numbers, departure and arrival locations, and their respective timings in a 24-hour format.

Surat’s Air Connectivity Grows by 322 Percent

Scindia also highlighted the expansion of air connectivity in Surat and Gujarat, stating that there were only 36 weekly flights from Surat prior to 2014. However, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, this has increased by 322 per cent to 152 flights per week.
