AirAsia Aims To Resume All Domestic Routes In Thailand By April

Spurred by further relaxation of travel measures in the provinces that led to increasing demand, AirAsia is set to reinstate all its flight routes from Bangkok this March, followed by the resumption of all its domestic flights across Thailand by April.

This is highly anticipated by most Thais in view of the upcoming annual Songkran festival. AirAsia has been having close consultations with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, state agencies and tourism operators to provide exciting travel promotions while maintaining strict health measures.

AirAsia Thailand Chief Executive Officer Santisuk Klongchaiya said: “We are very pleased with the close cooperation shown by all parties and the improving situation in major tourism cities such as Chiang Mai, Nan, Nakhon Panom, Udon Thani, Krabi and Phuket, which have lifted their 14-day quarantine requirement. The positive sign, coupled with growing confidence in travel among the public has prompted Thai AirAsia to begin reintroducing flights.”

He noted that the unfortunate second wave of COVID-19 infections in Thailand since December 2020 had necessitated the airline to closely assess the situation and streamline flights.

“However, with the improving situation and the roll out of vaccines, we are confident of returning to full-scale service soon, closely adhering to health protocols and requirements for our staff and guests. We will continue to work closely with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and members of the travel industry to offer promotions whenever travel restrictions are lifted. With the long Songkran holiday coming up in April, we look forward to resuming service on all our domestic routes to provide more opportunities for the tourism sector as a whole,” Mr. Santisuk said.
