Exciting news for travellers! Air India is launching non-stop flights between Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) and London Gatwick Airport (LGW) starting August 18, 2024.
This marks a significant development, making Bengaluru the first Indian city with direct connectivity to both of London’s major airports – Heathrow and Gatwick.
Enhanced Connectivity and Choice
The new route will operate five times a week, providing passengers with a convenient and time-saving travel option. This caters to the growing demand for air travel between Bengaluru, a major tech hub, and London, a global centre for finance and culture.
“This new route will boost trade, tourism, and cultural exchange,” said Satyaki Raghunath, Chief Operating Officer, BIAL. “London is one of our busiest long-haul markets, and the new service will allow our passengers to choose between airports in London depending on their needs.”

Comfortable Travel on Dreamliners
Air India will deploy its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on this route. Passengers can expect a comfortable journey with 18 lie-flat beds in Business Class and 238 spacious seats in Economy Class.

Expanding Connectivity
Currently, Air India also connects London Gatwick to four other Indian cities: Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa, and Kochi. In addition to this, the airline operates 31 weekly flights to London Heathrow and six weekly flights to Birmingham, underscoring its robust presence in the UK market.
