In view of the consistent request from the Indian travel agents and their representative associations, Air India Express has decided to expand the facility to book Vande Bharat Mission flights for Indian travel agencies from today.

Air India and Air India Express previously allowed travel agencies in the UAE to book tickets for these flights.

With the new policy, Indian agents will also be able to book Air India Express repatriation flights between India and the UAE from July 12.

Air India, which operates the largest fleet of Vande Bharat flights, has yet to respond.

Travel agency associations in the country, such as TAAI and IAAI, had asked the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and the management of Air India to open booking options for approved travel agencies.

In the meantime, India and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to operationalize a return flight agreement from July 12. To read the terms of the agreement, click here.

Similarly, Indian airlines that operate return flights to bring Indian nationals from the UAE to India may carry UAE-approved ICA residents returning from India to the UAE. However, all of these flights will only carry passengers destined for the UAE.

However, the agreement has a limited term of 15 days from July 12 and will be reviewed later as needed, a MoCA statement said.
