Pointing at the current poor aviation scenario, Air India is ending cabin crew and trainee cabin crew services by withdrawing job vacancies for those undergoing training.
According to sources, the new crew and trainee pilots could shorten the contracts from five years to one year. According to sources, Air India is terminating 1,200 crew members and employees older than 55, including 190 prospective pilots.
In a letter reviewed by IANS, Air India informed an applicant who was selected as cabin crew in August 2019 if the training was successfully completed.
“On behalf of Air India we would like to thank you for the interest shown by you in joining our organization. However, in view of the current aviation scenario, it would not be possible for Air India to impart any further training to you for engaging your services,” the company said.

“Given the reasons above that are beyond the company’s control, it has been decided to discontinue your training and not offer the engagement with immediate effect. The bank guarantee you granted at the time of joining is hereby returned,” said Air India to the cabin crew.
“Again on behalf of Air India, we thank you for your cooperation and trust that you will appreciate the circumstances in which we are forced to stop training,” said the airline.
