Air India Cancels 92 Flights Between May 28-31

National carrier Air India on Wednesday has cancelled 92 flights schedule between May 28 and May 31. The cancellations of flights are due to unavailability of slots at major airports and strict quarantine rules of some states.

The cancellations include some flights on routes such as;

  • Delhi-Kolkata
  • Chennai-Delhi
  • Hyderabad-Bengaluru
  • Kolkata-Guwahati
  • Chennai-Bengaluru
  • Delhi-Hyderabad
  • Chennai-Mumbai
  • Mumbai-Bhopal
  • Kolkata-Dibrugarh
  • Kolkata-Imphal
  • Imphal-Aizwal
  • Kolkata-Agartala
  • Mumbai-Delhi and…
  • Mumbai-Ahmedabad.

It is important to note that Kolkata airport is expected to resume operations from May 28 but with a very limited number of flights to the limit of 10 arrivals and 10 departures on a daily basis.

Similarly, Bagdogra airport will also allow only 10 departures and 10 arrivals daily from May 28. The outcome is a peculiar situation where available slots are few but contenders are many.

Chennai airport also has its own limitations with a limit of up to 25 arrivals. At Mumbai airport, the second busiest airport of the country, only 25 departures and 25 arrivals are permitted.

“If you are holding AI confirmed tickets with travel dates during i.e 23.03.2020 to 31.05. 2020 and have had their flight cancelled will be allowed to book in available flights for the period 25th May 2020 till 24 August 2020 at no extra charge.”

“In case you require change of routing, only the re-routing charges will be waived but applicable difference of fare will be charged. The above changes can be done through Air India call centre, AI booking offices only and Authorised AI Travel agents,” the national carrier wrote on Twitter.
