Air India has announced additional flights to Kolkata to cater to the increased travel demand during the upcoming Durga Puja festivities. These additional flights aim to make travel easier for passengers eager to visit Kolkata during the festive season.
New Routes and Schedules
Starting September 20, 2024, Air India will introduce daily, non-stop flights to Kolkata from Bengaluru and Hyderabad. These flights will run for nearly a month, offering more options for travelers from these cities.
Additionally, Air India has increased the frequency of flights to Kolkata from Delhi, effective August 15, 2024, and from Mumbai, starting September 25, 2024.
Enhanced Flight Frequency
With the added flights, the frequency on key routes will increase as follows:
- Delhi-Kolkata: From 28 weekly flights to 35.
- Mumbai-Kolkata: From 21 weekly flights to 28.

Convenient Timing for Travellers
The new flights are scheduled at convenient times, offering travelers more choices and flexibility. These additional flights will also allow seamless connections through Air India’s hubs in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, linking passengers to destinations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
Air India’s International Expansion
In addition to the domestic expansion, Air India recently announced that its Airbus A350-900 aircraft will operate on the Delhi-New York and Delhi-Newark routes starting November 1, 2024, and January 2, 2025, respectively. This move is expected to enhance the passenger experience on these crucial international routes.
Current Operations in the United States
Air India currently serves five U.S. destinations: New York JFK, Newark, Washington D.C., Chicago, and San Francisco, with 51 weekly flights from India. Since its inception on October 15, 1932, Air India has developed a vast domestic and international network, connecting major cities worldwide.

In January 2022, Air India and Air India Express returned to the Tata group after 69 years as a government-owned enterprise, marking a new chapter in the airline’s history.
