Indian flagship carrier Air India on Thursday announced that it will be operating additional flights between India and the United States (US) in August 2021.
As per a social media update, the airline will operate additional flights between New Delhi & Newark on 6th,13th, 20th & 27th August 2021.
Air India further said that these flights are in addition to the existing flights operating on this sector.
Air India has also opened the bookings for these additional flights and tickets can be booked through the airline’s website, booking offices, call center, and authorized travel agents.
More Non-Stop Flights To US From Aug 07
Air India has also announced that it will double its frequency for US sectors starting from 07th Aug, the announcement comes amid a large number of Indians head to universities.
It must be noted that the airline had reduced the number of weekly flights from about 40 to under 10 after the US imposed restrictions on travelers from India starting May 4 amid the second wave of Coronavirus.
At present Air India is operating around 21 flights per week to the US, with the maximum increase in New York (JFK and Newark or EWR) flights followed by Chicago and San Francisco.
United, the only other airline with nonstops between the two countries, is not altering India’s flight frequency for now.
“Flights to USA had to be curtailed after the US Presidential Proclamation restricting air traffic from India. Flights were combined and rescheduled, affecting travel itinerary for some. Frequency to US has now been enhanced from August and all-out efforts to accommodate passengers is on,” said Air India on Twitter.
Before May 4, the air bubble requirement for a majority of travelers between India and the US to fly direct saw AI operating almost as many flights to America as it did during pre-pandemic times.
Then, the May 4 restrictions meant there were very few eligible to fly from here to the US, and the reduced demand led to AI slashing flights.
