Air France-KLM Issues Guide to Help You Prepare For Summer Travels

Everyone wants a hassle-free trip, whether they are travelling for business or for pleasure. So, Air France-KLM has issued a detailed guide for its customer to get ready to travel to Europe this summer!

To help them get prepared, here are a few things your travellers need to keep in mind before heading to the airport:

Before Departure

Many countries still have their own travel requirements. So, you are to check Air France and KLM TravelDoc for the latest information and entry requirements for the country they intend to visit.

How to save time at the airport

  • Check-in online or via our apps and choose a seat and other options.
  • Use the Air France or KLM Baggage Allowance tool to find out how much baggage you can bring, according to your ticket’s conditions.
  • Several airports are experiencing operational challenges. Check the airport’s website for the latest advice on actual waiting times and arrive at the airport at the time indicated by the airline.

Additional measures from Air France and KLM

Travelling via Paris

The minimum connecting time (MCT) is temporarily enlarged from 60 to 80 minutes. This applies to connections between terminal F and terminal E at Paris-CDG and affects Air France, KLM and Delta customers that have a connection between Europe and ICA and vice versa.

Travelling via Amsterdam

The minimum connecting time (MCT) is temporarily enlarged for all connecting flights via Amsterdam.

This affects Air France, KLM and Delta customers with connections.

  • From Europe to Europe: 40 => 60 minutes
  • From Europe to ICA: 50 => 70 minutes
  • From ICA to Europe: 50 => 70 minutes

KLM has taken the following measures to reduce the inconvenience for customers that travel from or via Amsterdam. The measures are effective until 28 August.

  • Restricted sales of remaining seats on KLM and KLM Cityhopper flights to European destinations. This is to free up space for customers whose flight has been cancelled or that missed their flights due to long queues at Schiphol.
  • Customers, whose flight is cancelled, will be informed in a timely manner by KLM or their travel agent and rebooked onto a different flight. In most cases, this flight will depart on the same day or as close as possible to the original booking.
  • Increased options to rebook via the self-service kiosks. Specific, more flexible, options to rebook due to the situation may apply. Check our rebook policy on Airfrance.com or KLM.com.
  • Cancelling 10 to 20 return flights to European destinations every day

Frequent flying to Miami and Cape Town

Air France and KLM have also announced the addition of new flights to their network. The airline will increase the number of flights to Miami and Cape Town beginning November 1, 2022.

Air France will increase the number of weekly flights from Paris CDG to Miami from 14 to 19, and KLM will return to Miami with three weekly flights from Amsterdam, giving travellers 22 weekly flights to choose from and a departure time that suits them best.

Furthermore, for travellers who plan to visit Cape Town this winter, Starting 1 November, KLM will increase their direct flight frequency from Amsterdam to Cape Town from 7 to 10 flights a week during the winter season, and Air France will start offering three weekly flights directly from Paris CDG. A trip to South Africa will be even more accessible.
