Air Canada and Emirates Activate Codeshare Partnership to Extend Global Networks

Air Canada and Emirates announced on Tuesday the start of their codeshare partnership. Customers of the carriers will benefit from seamless connectivity to 46 markets spanning three continents, including destinations in the Americas, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Indian subcontinent.

Beginning November 01, codeshare tickets will be available for purchase to 35 markets for travel beginning December 1, with 11 additional markets to be added pending final regulatory approval and the possibility of additional markets being added beyond that.

  • Frequent flyer members of Aeroplan and Skywards will soon be able to earn and redeem points or miles when flying with both airlines.
  • Enhanced customer offering implemented with the issuance of a single ticket and baggage transfers through to the final destination.
  • A plan for improved connectivity and seamless experience between the carriers at their respective hub airports in Toronto and Dubai is to be implemented over the next six months.

Tickets are available through the airlines’ websites (aircanada.com and emirates.com), as well as major GDS systems and travel agencies.

Air Canada & Emirates Codeshare Agreement

Customers of Emirates will be able to book codeshare flights to and from Canadian cities other than Toronto, such as Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, and Vancouver.

Air Canada will place its code on Emirates flights from its Dubai hub, expanding the airline’s reach across the Indian subcontinent and enabling access to new destinations such as Colombo, Dhaka, Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.

Similarly, customers flying with Air Canada will also enjoy seamless connectivity to Southeast Asian destinations such as Bangkok, Hanoi, Phuket, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore; Middle Eastern cities such as Jeddah and Muscat; and African destinations such as Addis Ababa and Dar Es Salaam.

Reciprocal Frequent Flyer Programme & Lounge Access

The airlines will soon launch a reciprocal frequent flyer programme, allowing Aeroplan and Skywards members to earn and redeem points on Emirates and Air Canada flights, respectively.

Eligible passengers will soon be able to enjoy reciprocal lounge access, as well as select benefits for Aeroplan Elite and Skywards members when flying with the partner airline. More information and launch dates will be announced later.
