The US Embassy in India on Friday said that it is going to resume limited processing of all visa categories, including student visas, H1-B, H4, L-1, L-2, C1/D, and B1/B2 visas from February onward.
“Beginning February 1, 2021, US Embassy New Delhi will resume limited processing of all visa categories, including student visas, H1-B, H4, L-1, L-2, C1/D, and B1/B2 visas,” the Embassy said in an official statement.
“Our capacity is limited, however, to maintain the safety of our customers and staff. Once consulates are able to do so, they will likewise expand services,” it further said.
Cancellation of March 2021 nonimmigrant visa appointments:
“Due to scheduling changes, the Nonimmigrant Visa Unit of U.S. Embassy New Delhi is unable to honour appointments previously scheduled for March 2021“, said the embassy on its official website.
If a visa interview is cancelled, the applicant will receive an SMS and/or email notification and may reschedule at their convenience.
Applicants whose visa appointments were cancelled are required to reschedule both of the existing appointments, to include the appointment at the Visa Application Center for biometric enrollment and the in-person interview at U.S. Embassy New Delhi.
- To reschedule, log into your profile at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in; there is NO NEED to contact the call center or customer support.
The US has extended the validity of applicants’ payments (known as the MRV fee) until December 31, 2021, to allow all applicants who were unable to schedule a visa appointment as a result of the suspension of routine consular operations an opportunity to schedule and/or attend a visa appointment with the already paid fee.
Please also note that for some visa categories, appointments are currently available as early as February 2021.
