India is set to resume domestic flights from Monday 25th May, two months after a lockdown to control the spread of COVID-19.
But flying would be entirely different now as certain new guidelines have been issued for the domestic flight passengers and airports, which are mandatory to be followed during flight operations.
Here are some essential rules to follow for domestic air travel:
1. Download and Active Aarogya Setu App
Passenger will be required to certify the status of their health through the Aarogya Setu app or a self-declaration form and go through temperature screening.
Note: Passengers with red status on Aarogya Setu App will not be allowed to travel.
2. Do mandatory web check-in
Only passengers who have completed web check-in will be allowed to enter the airport.
3. Reach Airport Two Hours Before Departure
Passengers should report to the airport at least 2 hours prior to the departure time. Boarding gates will close 20 minutes before departure.
Also remember only passengers who have flights departing in the next 4 hours will be allowed to enter the terminal building.
4. Maintain Social Destining
Be responsible and practice social distancing also remember do not use chairs marked “Not For Use”
5. Carry A Hand Sanitizer
Don’t forget to carry a hand sanitizer for regular use. As per the revised guidelines by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security flyers could now take up to 350 ml of hand sanitizer with them in flights.

6. Wear a Face Mask
Passengers are required to wear face masks at the airport and in the flight.

7. Carry only 1 Check-in and Cabin Baggage
Only 1 check-in baggage up to 20 kgs and 1 cabin baggage will be allowed per passenger.
8. Print and Paste Baggage Tag
Passengers will be required to print and paste a pre-filled baggage tag (included in the booking) and affix it on the bags. Alternatively, they should mention the PNR number and name on paper and affix it on the bags.
9. No meal will be server on-board
No meal service, newspapers or magazines will be available on-board.
10. Avoid Travel if you’re Pregnant, Elderly or Ailing
Elderly, pregnant, and ailing individuals are advised to avoid air travel. Additionally, individuals who have been tested COVID-19 positive or are staying in a containment zone should not travel.
