Vande Bharat Mission Phase 8 Extended Till December 31

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Anurag Srivastava on Thursday informed that Phase 8 of Vande Bharat Mission has been extended till December 31, 2020.

During his weekly media briefing, Srivastava said: “Under this extended phase called Phase 8 Plus, 897 international flights have been scheduled to operate from 15 countries with a capacity to repatriate an estimated 1.5 lakh people.”

In December 2020, Air India will operate flights from Bangkok, Colombo, Kuwait, Nairobi, Rome, Singapore, Sydney, Tel Aviv, and Yangon.

While Air India Express will operate over 700 flights from 6 countries viz. Bahrain, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, and UAE under the Vande Bharat Mission and Air Bubble Arrangements.

He further informed that the bilateral air bubble arrangements with 22 countries are progressing smoothly.

Vande Bharat Mission Phase 8 Flight Schedule

As of December 3, more than 34 lakh Indians have been repatriated through different modes of the mission.

The eighth phase of the Vande Bharat Mission was initiated earlier this month.

The Vande Bharat Mission started in early May to evacuate Indians stranded abroad due to coronavirus-induced travel restrictions.
