The Maharashtra government was said to announce the resumption of Mumbai local train services for the general public on 13 January, on Wednesday. But the railways on Tuesday evening said that the Govt hasn’t made any decision yet.

It seems like that the state government is not ready to take immediate decision.

We are currently operating local train services… We do not have any problem and are waiting for the state government directive regarding permitting the general public. A decision on the permission is expected soon.” said an official.

No Restriction On Special Train Services

  • However, currently, local trains are only running for employees working in essential care services since July 15.
  • Differently-abled, cancer patients, women, and lawyers are also allowed to travel on the train.

The Mumbai local train services were suspended on March 23 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
