Ladakh encourages quality tourism: Prahlad Singh Patel

Addressing a seminar on ‘New India – New Ladakh’ organized by New tourism Foundation, a Trust chaired by former tourism Secretary to Government of India, Vinod Zutshi in Delhi, Prahalad Singh Patel, Minister of State with independent charge of tourism & Culture expressed that the Centre is committed to providing 100% support to line up tourism infrastructure facilities moreover as promote quality tourism in Ladakh. Ladakh, he said, is one of the foremost beautiful destinations that could be an excellent combination of beauty and rich culture.

The Minister said that the Centre has already projected a fully equipped facilitation cum coaching centre for adventure tourism in Leh-Ladakh and also planned to map of tourist facilities in the region. He appreciated the efforts of the tourism stakeholders to enforce quality tourism into the region than quantity tourism which might harm the fragile eco-system of the destination.

Zutshi in his introductory remarks expressed the assumption that the newly acquired Union Territory status for Ladakh would open the doors for uncounted opportunities for increasing tourism and cultural activities within the region. The new status of Ladakh can give an excellent platform for tourism to prosper as there’ll be bigger coordination with the Centre, more resources, and greater support from agencies and stakeholders of the tourism industry, he said. “We at New tourism Foundation believe transfer the hidden commercial enterprise treasures of the country on a worldwide platform and this specific initiative of ours is one discovery during this direction. Ladakh has a large potential in commercial enterprise and that we hope through our efforts we’ll be ready to promote the made culture and heritage of the state to achieve a lot of tourists to Ladakh.”

Zutshi said that the foundation can ideate, advocate and promote tourism in the New India with vigour. He also projected a series of programmes, seminars, etc. in that direction. the foundation will organise international Heritage tourism mart to promote the culture and heritage of India in the middle of next year. New tourism Foundation will start State-wise chapters to boost dialogue and engagement at all levels to promote tourism, he added.

Sunil Gupta, Secretary-General, New tourism Foundation, mentioned that the inspiration will work towards bringing the issues pertaining to India tourism and organising a lot of such educative seminars.
