Heavy Snowfall, Road Blocks in Shimla & Manali; Tourists Advised Not To Travel

Over 250 roads were blocked due to heavy fresh snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and tourists have been advised to not to travel Shimla and Manali.

“There is heavy snow and trees have been falling. The roads are slippery. Everyone must reach home by 5 pm” Shimla Police wrote in its facebook page today.

Three people from Haryana, who were trapped in the vehicle at Ganeshidhar, were rescued by the staff of police post-Baaghi near Narkanda. Do not show excitement in snow. Use caution. Shimla Police said in a Facebook update.

On Tuesday between 5.30 PM on Tuesday and 8.30 AM on Wednesday, Shimla received 20 centimeters of heavy snowfall, the weather office said.

Another popular tourist destination Dalhousie received 35 centimeters of fresh snowfall.

Manali received 22 centimeters, Kalpa 16 centimeters and Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti received 8 centimeters of snow these days.
