Canada Visa Applications Centres To Start Accepting Biometric Enrolments: VFS

Effective 24th February 2021, Canada visa applicants who have submitted their Visa application under Economic PR (E or EP), can enroll biometrics at Canada Visa Applications Centres in India. This is in addition to the ongoing biometrics for applications lodged under categories of student (SP), family class priority – spouses, partners and children (FCP), Workers (WP), and Returning Students & Workers.

Returning Students and returning Workers will need to book an appointment using their current study and work permit application number listed on the new permit document & upload the new permit document instead of the BILs.

It must be noted that a prior appointment is mandatory to visit the Visa Application Centre to enroll in biometrics. Appointments can be booked online by filling in the web form available.

  • Effective Monday 22nd February 2021, the Opening Hours of the VAC in Chandigarh, Jalandhar, and Ahmedabad will be as follows, until further notice:
  • Business Hours: Monday – Friday (five working days): 08:00 hrs – 17:00 hrs

Returning Students and Workers:

If you are a returning student or worker, please follow the below instructions to schedule your biometric appointment at the India VACs:

  • Request your appointment using your current study or work permit application number listed on your new permit document. The number will start with an S or W.
  • Upload your new permit document (must be valid for at least 30 days from the date of your appointment request) instead of your Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL).

Please note, you must bring your Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL) to your biometric appointment along with your valid permit document to the VAC to confirm that you are a Returning Student or Worker.

The Indian Embassy in Canada has also informed the same through a tweet and said, “As of today, February 24, all Permanent Resident applicants applying under any economic stream may now request a biometric appointment through the VAC webform.”

“Family Class applicants (spouses, partners, and children), Students, Workers, and Returning Students and Workers can continue to request biometric appointments.” the embassy further added.
